Meet Jack

This is Jackson, aka Jack!

He entered this world on the 2nd of January, and entered our family last Friday.

He is a "Treeing Walker Coonhound"

(I've always wanted a Coonhound ever since i read the book Where the Red Fern Grows, tear jerker!!)

Little background on baby Jack: His parents were trained mountain lion and bear hunters! The farm we went and picked him up at had a team of hunting dogs, at least 12-15 of them, there were a few possible fathers and all of them were Huge!  We did not however get to meet his mother, she decided to check out the neighborhood before we got there, so it was up to us to see to her puppies.

Jack was born with 9 other brothers and sisters, and all of them were crazy rambunctious!!

But we knew he was the keeper the second i pointed him out. Buddy scooped him up and i swear you could almost hear the sigh of relief from Jack. He just laid his head down thankful to get a break from the puppy madness! We didn't need to look and further, he was the one!

already he has proven himself to be a gift from God, having only been 10 weeks old, he's shown to be very well behaved, he's almost fully potty trained, he heals beautifully without a leash, no running off, or anything. and puts himself to bed when he's ready!

i think a cool part of getting jack is that he is perfect preperation for the baby!

waking up in the middle of the night to take him out to potty, getting used to someone depending on you for love and cuddles, as well as exercise and playtime, thinking about our weekend plans and making sure they are jack-friendly! and helping him grow up to be a good companion, socialized, and happy!
