Called to the work of Our Lord,
today we enjoy a baptism.

thought I'd share a little something i wrote for it =]

In acts 19 Paul talks about two kinds of baptisms, one performed by John the Baptist, a baptism of repentance and a second type, fulfilled by Christ, a baptism to gain the Holy Spirit. Both equally important; one in the same, and experienced today. Most importantly it is the heart-felt choice to follow God that is expressed through our actions today, while we use water to represent washing the impurity away, it is the Holy Spirit that descends upon us.
Lord It is truly a blessing to see part of your flock so boldly desire you. And to acknowledged how important your sacrifice on the cross was. We pray not only for forgiveness, but also to gain your power and strength through your gift of the Holy Spirit. To guide us gently through this life we can’t possible navigate ourselves. Convict our hearts to refine us like gold. And let us feel your unparalleled grace and love through it. Let us all remember that through your will we were created. Through your mercy we were forgiven through your Son we were saved and through your spirit we are sanctified.
Thank you Lord! AMEN!

we left it pretty opened ended because all of us are there for different reasons. God knows each one of our hearts and what specifically we were searching for in Him. whether it was a re dedication and asking for forgiveness, a first time baptism to receive the holy spirit, or a rejuvenating of the spirit, He knows all and Answered all!

after we got home my friend crystal sent me a text saying i should read Deuteronomy 26:16-19
How lucky of me! thats the book Jack decided i didnt need and chewed out of my bible!!!

but it was very fitting for the day, and it was awesome having someone else tell me they divinely opened up to that scripture =]

"16 The Lord your God commands you this day to follow these decrees and laws; carefully observe them with all your heart and with all your soul. 17 You have declared this day that the Lord is your God and that you will walk in obedience to him, that you will keep his decrees, commands and laws—that you will listen to him. 18 And the Lord has declared this day that you are his people, his treasured possession as he promised, and that you are to keep all his commands. 19 He has declared that he will set you in praise, fame and honor high above all the nations he has made and that you will be a people holy to the Lord your God, as he promised."

  1. This is going into the folder of antiquity I'll definitely use this to show others that have questions about baptism and understanding the gift of the Spirit and operating in Him.
